HORSERACING TV PRESENTS FIRST-EVER COVERAGE OF PRESTIGIOUS SARATOGA RACE MEETING

Thirty-Six Day Meeting Kicks Off on Wednesday, July 23

Saratoga Springs, NY, July 18 -- After comprehensive onsite coverage for all three Triple Crown races this Spring, HorseRacing TV (TM) (HRTV) will continue to expand its racing presence by presenting inaugural coverage of the prestigious Saratoga Race Course Summer meeting, when the historic upstate New York track opens it 140th season on Wednesday, July 23.

HRTV's in-depth daily coverage will include expert analysis from the network's informative group of hosts/analysts, valuable handicapping strategies, as well as full post parades, and up-to-date odds.

The 36-day, six-week racing session continues through Labor Day, Sept. 1, and racing is conducted on a Wednesday through Monday schedule. Daily post time is 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT each day, except Saturday, August 23, Travers Day, when first post is Noon ET/9 a.m. PT.

Annually one of the sport's most anticipated meetings, the stand offers a staggering 33 graded stakes races, with 15 established as Grade 1 events. Each year, the race meeting draws the sport's biggest equine stars, lures the nation's top stables, and is a major focus of the Thoroughbred racing world.

The $1 million Travers, acknowledged as the Mid-summer Derby, is the meeting's signature race. The August 23 card also features three graded stakes -- the Grade 1, $250,000 NetJets King's Bishop, the Grade 2, $200,000 Bernard Baruch, and the $100,000 Victory Ride.

Also among Saratoga's biggest days are Saturday, July 26, when three Grade 1 races -- $750,000 Whitney Handicap, $500,000 Diana Handicap, and the $250,000 Go For Wand -- headline the powerhouse card. The next day, the Grade 2, $500,000 Jim Dandy, featuring some of the sport's top 3-year-olds, is the centerpiece.

The meeting concludes with a flourish, with two Grade 1 races -- the $500,000 Woodward and the $250,000 Forego -- set for Saturday, August 30. Steeplechase racing, a staple during the meeting, is slated for Thursdays.
